What are you going to do when the Kids have gone back to school?
It’s time for a change!
“One person may have enthusiasm for 30 min, another for 30 days, but it is the person who has it for 30 years who makes a success of their life”At the beginning of 2012 I have heard a lot of people comment on how they were going to change their lives in the new year, and not in just one or two area’s – they want to change their lives completely.
But the truth is many of us don’t really want to change our lives but we want to change the way our lives are lived. It often comes down to the way we speak to ourselves, how we think. Do we speak to ourselves are our thoughts positive or negative?
What is positive thinking?
Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive for growth, expansion and success. It is the mental attitude that expects good and favourable results. A positive mind is a healthy mind that anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome from every situation and action.
Whatever the mind expects, it finds. But not everyone believes in positive thinking. However, this topic is definitely gaining popularity but many people still do not know what it really means!!! It is quite common to hear people say “Think poisitve” to someone who is down and worried.
Positive Attitude.
When we have a positive attitude we entertain pleasant feelings and constructive images and we see in our mind’s eye what we really want to happen. This brings brightness to the eyes, more energy and happiness.
Even our health is effected in a beneficial way. We walk tall and the voice is more powerful. Our body language shows the way you feel inside.
Positive and negative thinking are both contagious.
All of us affect, in one way or another, the people we meet. This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through thoughts and feelings transference, and through body language. People sense how we are feeling (aura) and are effected by our thoughts, and vice versa. Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive people and avoid negative ones? People are more disposed to help us if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone broadcasting negativity.
Negative thoughts, words and attitudes bring up negative and unhappy moods and actions. When the mind is negative, poisons are released into the bloods (metaphorically speaking) which causes more unhappiness and negativity. This is the path towards failure, frustration and disappointment.
Practical Instructions
In order to turn your mood around towards positive – like getting fit- you need to do more work and training of attitudes and thoughts, these do not change overnight! Our thoughts are constantly shaping our lives. This shaping is usually done one a subconscious level but it is possible to make it a conscious one. Even if the idea seems strange give it a try and give it time. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain!
What do you do?
- Always visualise only favourable and beneficial situations.
- Use positive words in your inner dialogue (talking to yourself ) and to others.
- Smile a little more as this will help people think you are positive and makes you feel better.
- Disregard any feelings of laziness or a desire to quit. If you persevere in your pursuit of this quest you will transform the way you think.
What do I do when I have negative thoughts?
Once a negative thought enters your head, you have to be aware of it and endeavour to replace it with a constructive one. The negative thought will try to enter again and then you have to replace it again with a positive one. Persistence will teach your mind, eventually, to only think of positive thoughts and ignore negative ones. It does not matter what your circumstances are at the present moment. Think positive, expect only favourable results and situations and circumstances will change accordingly – give it time!
