Many people look at expiry dates as a negative and much talk surrounds the topic. But at Le Beau Day Spa our experience with validation dates are all positive. All our gift vouchers are accepted but we insist upon a validation date, let’s take a look at why.
Firstly, if your gift voucher does not have an expiry date it gives the person who receives the gift no urgency to use it. I hear you ask the question ‘so?’ Well don’t you want the recipient to enjoy the gift you put so much effort and time into getting for them? Not just have them shove it in a draw and forget about it?
Secondly, if there is no expiry date the likelihood of the voucher going missing is high. As all vouchers are treated like cash your gift is now wasted.
Thirdly, many companies who do not put an expiry on their gift voucher do so with the hope you will forget it and never use it, to increase their yearly profit margin. Sneaky yes, but I assure you that is why! The client is never in the equation, only the businesses bottom line. So next time you buy a voucher, ensure your gift voucher is being purchased from a company that wants to see you gift become a positive experience.
